A comic is an inexpensive and approachable way of getting your message across. The word 'educational comic' really is not sufficient to describe the comics in this category. The French word 'sensibilisation' covers the meaning of the word better. It implies that the audience is made sensitive to important themes such as AIDS, hygiene, abuse of women, illiteracy, illegal migration, education, agriculture and corruption. Drawings speak a universal language and that is extremely important in this part of the world where not everyone has reading skills. Non-governmental organizations finance many educational comics.
